State Rep. Bradley Slagh today was appointed by Speaker Jason Wentworth to serve as chair of the House Appropriations Committee on Corrections.
Slagh said he is honored to be selected to serve in this new role.
“I look forward to continuing to provide value to the appropriations process this term,” said Slagh, of Zeeland. “I had the opportunity to tour some of our state’s correctional facilities and engage with many stakeholders during my first two years in the Legislature as the subcommittee’s vice chair. I’m ready to hit the ground running as the chair to ensure the resources allocated for one of the state’s largest department’s is spent effectively and efficiently.”
The second-term lawmaker was also selected to serve as vice chair of the Joint Capital Outlay Appropriations Committee and as a member of the Higher Education and Community Colleges Subcommittee and the Environment, Great Lakes and Energy Subcommittee.
Slagh was first elected to serve the 90th House District in November 2018. The 90th District encompasses parts of Ottawa County, including the cities of Holland, Hudsonville and Zeeland, and the townships of Holland, Jamestown and Zeeland.
State Rep. Brad Slagh is urging Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Department of Health and Human Services to amend their unilateral orders and to allow winter contact sports to resume in Michigan schools as was previously anticipated until the governor extended the pause last week.
