State Rep. Jaime Greene (R-Richmond) today recognized National School Choice Week by highlighting the importance of maintaining a strong and diverse education system that gives families access to learning options that meet their children’s individual needs.

“School choice is about more than policy or funding formulas. It’s about honoring each child as an individual,” said Greene. “Parents know their children best, and educational freedom lets families respond to their needs in each season of life, whether that means traditional public school, homeschooling, cyber learning, or private education. Every child deserves a place where they can thrive.”

National School Choice Week, January 25-31, recognizes that children learn differently and that families often need flexibility as those needs change over time. Maintaining a full range of educational options helps ensure students across learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds can find environments where they are supported, challenged, and able to thrive.

“For my own family, school choice has been life-changing,” said Greene. “We’ve used multiple different forms of education at different times for my children. Each option allowed them to grow and reach their potential, and that’s exactly what every parent wants for their children.

“Every family’s journey is different. Some children flourish in one setting, while others need a different path. Protecting educational freedom ensures that no child is told they don’t fit, and that parents can choose what’s best for their kids. That’s what real opportunity looks like.”
