Portland lawmaker will serve as an assistant majority floor leader

State Rep. Julie Calley was elected today to serve as an assistant majority floor leader for the 2021-2022 Michigan House of Representatives legislative session.

“It’s an honor to be selected by my colleagues to serve as a member of the House leadership team next session,” said Calley, of Portland. “I look forward to continuing our work together on issues that are impactful and important to Michiganders. It’s been a difficult year, and there is much to be done, but I’m confident in the ability of this team to lead the way.”

The assistant majority floor leader’s duties traditionally include assisting the majority floor leader in directing activities on the House floor.

First elected in 2016, Rep. Calley serves as the chair of the Elections and Ethics Committee. She is also a member of the Committees on Health Policy, Local Government and Municipal Finance and Natural Resources.
